A former athlete introduced to Yoga in 1990’s to rehabilitate a chronic shoulder injury.   Gil realized the healing and “feel good” benefits of yoga as the everyday aches and pains of his physical lifestyle began to fade. A perennial student, his journey of study has been with some of the world’s foremost yoga teachers: David Williams, Alan Finger, David Swenson, Kofi Busia, & Cindi Lee.  In 2000 Gil began his daily practice of Ashtanga Yoga that carried him into the Advanced series. He believes through modifying his practice he can continue his daily Ashtanga practice for the rest of his life.

Gil has completed professional teacher training’s in 4 styles of yoga. With over 4500 hours of teaching experience he is certified E-RYT 500,  YACEP.  His classes and private sessions emphasize breath awareness, mindfulness, and proper alignment. His adjustments and modifications help students realize the benefit from yoga that is most suited to their own needs.  Gil’s desire is that each student leaves a practice with a sense of accomplishment and mindfulness.

With a nutritional and physiology background spanning 4 decades, it was natural to also immerse himself in study of the therapeutic applications of yoga.  Gil offers therapeutic sessions and workshops to help rehabilitate and reduce the pain associated with injuries and chronic illnesses.  In 2010 he developed a yoga program for breast cancer survivors and offers yoga to cancer survivors on a donation basis.
